New Report: Re-Building Security in Europe

The Europe-Russia: People-to-People Dialogue roundtable took place in Prague on June 8-9, 2017, six months after the successful Boris Nemtsov Forum in Brussels. The meeting considered short- and long-term possibilities for stabilizing EU-Russia ties and developing linkages and patterns of cooperation to prepare a path for Russia’s reintegration with Europe.The event, organized by Open Russia and the Institute of Modern Russia, brought together 32 participants, among them MEPs, politicians, journalists and high profile experts from Russia and the EU. Karel Schwarzenberg, Chairman of the Committee of Foreign Affairs of the Chamber of Deputies in the Parliament of the Czech Republic, was the guest speaker at a dinner organized during the event.

Screenings of They Chose Freedom and Nemtsov at Hunter College

IMR Held Discussions on the Future of Russia’s Democratic Movement and on Justice in the Nemtsov Case

On September 13, the Institute of Modern Russia participated in two expert panels in Washington, D.C. The first event, dedicated to the prospects of the democratic movement in Russia, took place in the U.S. Capitol Hill Visiting Center with the support of the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and Free Russia Foundation. The second event was hosted by the Atlantic Council where experts discussed issues of Russia’s justice system in the light of the recent verdict in the Nemtsov case.

IMR To Hold a Discussion on Prospects for Russia's Democratic Movement

On September 13, the National Endowment for Democracy, the Institute of Modern Russia, and the Free Russia Foundation will host a discussion on the potential of Russia’s democratic movement in the light of 2018 presidential elections in Russia. The Institute of Modern Russia continues the work on developing a reform program for post-Putin Russia—an initiative that we launched in 2016. As part of this initiative, today we are presenting a new report titled “Demonopolization of the Economy as an Axis of Russia’s Future Reforms” that focuses on the fundamental problems in the Russian economy and offers a blueprint of potential reforms.
