DELFI (Estonia), October 9, 2013
Through November 13, the Tallinn Portrait Gallery (located at Suur-Karja, 2) is hosting an exhibition titled “Prison and Freedom,” dedicated to Mikhail Khodorkovsky, the Russian businessman and public figure who is currently serving a prison term.
Khodorkovsky’s son Pavel, who came to the opening of the exhibition, told Delfi that European Parliament member Kristiina Ojuland helped Pavel’s NGO, the Institute of Modern Russia, organize the exhibition in Tallinn.
In June 2013, Mikhail Khodorkovsky turned fifty. He was imprisoned almost ten years ago, on October 25, 2003.
The exhibition features a series of photos by photographer Mikhail Friedman, titled “Photo 51,” as well as photos from Mikhail Khodorkovsky’s archive. Alongside the photos, visitors can see documents, items, and books belonging to Khodorkovsky. The exhibition was organized in cooperation with the Institute of Modern Russia.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by composer Arvo Pärt, who had dedicated a symphony to Mikhail Khodorkovsky, and by photographer Mikhail Friedman, among others.
