On May 8, the Ukrainian-American human rights organization Razom presented its white paper titled “Crisis in Ukraine: Its Legal Dimensions” at the United Nations. The event was attended by UN delegates and representatives of both the nonprofit and private sectors.
On April 30, a seminar titled “Corruption in Russia: Executive, Judiciary and Legislative” was held in Washington, D.C. Participants in the seminar discussed the history of corruption in Russia and post-Soviet countries, Russian anti-corruption law, and the concerns of corporate and legal advisors working with Russia. IMR advisor Ekaterina Mishina spoke at the seminar about the essence and causes of Russian corruption.
On April 26, the Institute of Modern Russia hosted a panel entitled “The Meaning of Patriotism in Post-Soviet Russia” at the World Convention of the Association for the Study of Nationalities (ASN) at Columbia University. IMR president Pavel Khodorkovsky chaired the panel of esteemed scholars, with Professor Richard Sakwa of the University of Kent participating as a discussant.
On April 24–25, a forum entitled "Ukraine-Russia: the Dialogue," organized by Mikhail Khodorkovsky’s Open Russia Foundation, the Third Republic of Ukraine movement and the PEN club of Russia took place in Kiev. Prominent members of the Russian and Ukrainian intellectual elite participated in the forum and called for the social and cultural rapprochement between the two countries to overcome the current political crisis.

On April 22 and 24, Richard Sakwa, professor of Russian and European politics at the University of Kent, presented his book titled Putin and the Oligarch: The Khodorkovsky-Yukos Affair in Washington, DC, and New York. Both events were organized by the Institute of Modern Russia.

It was announced yesterday that Ukraine imposed entrance restrictions on Russian male citizens aged 16 to 60. Ukraine's desire to protect their country from mercenaries is understandable and legitimate in the context of this undeclared war. In practice, however, this decision as well as numerous incidents at the [Russia-Ukraine] border, which plenty of witnesses have reported, have frightened thousands of average citizens, forcing them to change their personal, family plans.

The report outlines a number of crucial issues in the ongoing Ukrainian crisis, including the annexation of Crimea, the Budapest Memorandum on international security guarantees, and the human rights and humanitarian law. It contains legal conclusions on Eastern Ukraine and closes with policy recommendations to resolve the crisis.
